Profili: "We are called to the challenge of knowing how to welcome the world into our home"
Civita di Bagnoregio protagonist at the World Tourism Exhibition. It was represented by the mayor Luca Profili who illustrated to those present the history of this village, increasingly a symbol of Tuscia but also of Italy in the world and a candidate for the title of Unesco property.
“Ours is the story of a village of seven residents that welcomes a million tourists every year. This is Civita. Jewel of the municipality of Bagnoregio, which has just over 3600 souls. In about five years we have built a tourist development that has attracted the attention of the media from all over the world: from the New York Times to El Pais, passing through Chinese televisions.
More than two hundred new businesses have been born and over 400 jobs have been created. An impressive growth that needs to include quality and the UNESCO candidacy is pushing us in this direction. The cultural landscape of Civita di Bagnoregio is something that must not only be seen but also experienced in order to understand the emotion of which it is the custodian. Here the hand of man has met nature over the centuries, signing a pact made of subtle balances and respect.
Civita has been able to challenge all times, even the contemporary one. From a place destined for abandonment it has become the place of a possible future. Also for the new generations, called to the challenge of welcoming the world into their own home. Destined to jealously guard a unique identity and make it accessible to those who know how to move slowly to really see and listen". This is a passage from the intervention of the mayor of Bagnoregio in the meeting of Palazzo Venezia.
On 11 October Civita di Bagnoregio will be a guest of the Rimini International Tourism Fair, to talk about Unesco sites and the candidacies of Lazio.
