The fragility of Civita will be monitored from space. Indeed, images from the Cosmo Skymed satellite, operated by the Italian Space Agency, will be used to assess ground movements. This high-level study falls under the National Real Estate Monitoring Plan, funded by the Ministry of Culture. "We are proud of these investments by the Ministry to protect a village like our Civita, which has increasingly represented Italy's image worldwide in recent years. We enthusiastically welcome all scholars who will collaborate in the Scientific Council for the Protection of Civita di Bagnoregio, which we have established precisely because we are aware of the importance of protecting the site," said Mayor Profili.

On March 19th, a technical meeting on the project was held in Bagnoregio. During the meeting, attended by Mayor Luca Profili, the Italian Geological Survey Department of ISPRA, the UNESCO Chair at the University of Florence, and the President of the Scientific Council for the Protection of Civita di Bagnoregio, Prof. Claudio Margottini, the initial results and ongoing analyses were presented.

With this innovative technology, Civita di Bagnoregio stands out nationally as a privileged location for applying environmentally friendly, high-quality, and high-resolution innovative technologies for ground control, capable of verifying any deformations of the rock on which it stands.

The National Monitoring Plan includes a scientific investigation into the state of historical and archaeological heritage at over 20 sample sites across Italy, including Pisa, the Scrovegni Chapel in Padua, the bell towers of Venice, the historic center of Ferrara, Paestum, Piazza Armerina in Sicily, and many others, alongside Civita di Bagnoregio.
