The star of architecture Steven Holl: “Civita is the poetry of life”
Day in the Calanques for one of the most important architects in the world, accompanied by the deputy mayor Luca Profili, in memory of Astra Zarina
BAGNOREGIO – Steven Holl, one of the most important architects in the world, in Civita di Bagnoregio. His is a return, because he is linked to this spur of rock suspended over the Calanques by the memory of Astra Zarina, another international star in the galaxy of architecture deeply linked to the evocative and unique Italian village.
Precisely to pay homage to the memory of "Astra", as Holl himself has underlined several times, he intended to take part in the day that La Sapienza University and the Municipality of Bagnoregio wanted to dedicate. Important day, characterized by two specific moments. The arrival of the starchitect Holl on the northern side of Civita where a work dedicated to the Tsarina will be created and the naming of the teaching room of Palazzo Alemanni after her.
Steven Holl was welcomed by deputy mayor Luca Profili, who accompanied him on this day in Bagno. At the belvedere on the north side, the starchitect discovered the red cloth that covered the print of his project and illustrated it to those present.
“Civita tells us about the poetry of life and when, as a student, I came here with Astra my existence changed. Astra inspired many students with her thoughts, she transformed my life. In this work, made of basalt, there is a bronze part that depicts four spheres. These tell the story of Astra: the first represents her as a scholar, the second as an inspiring teacher, the third her as a citizen of the world and finally the fourth which speaks of Civita as the poetry of life, a concept so dear to her". Steven Holl's words to the many present. Among these also the creative director of Gucci Alessandro Michele.
