Great return to Civita di Bagnoregio for the tightrope walker Andrea Loreni

A new emotion, after the success of last year's crossing following the steps of Fellini's tightrope walker from the film The Road

The tightrope walker Andrea Loreni returns to Tuscia. Appointment in Civita di Bagnoregio on August 3rd, for the first edition of The Night of Lights, an evening of unique emotions. Forty meters of inclined and illuminated cable for the crossing suspended above the roofs of one of the most appreciated wonders of the world.

BAGNOREGIO - After the great success of last year, which saw Andrea Loreni walking the tightrope walker in Federico Fellini's film La Strada for the opening of Civita Cinema in Piazza Cavour, Loreni is ready for a new exciting test tens of meters away 'height. This time the record-breaking tightrope walker walks above the sky of Civita di Bagnoregio.

The appointment is on August 3rd at 11pm in Piazza San Donato. The LED walk consists of a 40 meter long illuminated cable crossing. The tightrope walker's cable is stretched between the Alemanni palace, from the rooms that house the Landslide Museum, and the bell tower of the church of San Donato, for an uphill walk, inclined up to 30 meters in height.

“Last year Loreni thrilled the many who arrived in Bagnoregio to watch her performance. On that occasion a special relationship was born between him and our territory and we immediately got to work to think about a new exhibition in Civita. I personally accompanied him on the necessary inspections and we dreamed together what later became 'The Night of Lights'. We are sure of a great success." These are the words of the mayor of Bagnoregio Luca Profili.

“The night of lights is an important new challenge that we as an administration have decided to make – said the Councilor for Culture Francesco Bigiotti -. We are convinced that the time is ripe to think about enhancing the beauty of Civita even at night, so as to stimulate people staying in our accommodation facilities and increase the economic benefits of the tourism development that we have brought about. Loreni is an internationally known figure and capable of attracting the interest of important newspapers and television stations to her performances, a very precious added value for promotion".

The night of lights, which among the various events also includes the extraordinary lighting of the suspension bridge, opens with the aerial acrobatics show “Chimere. Site specific aerial show” curated by Le Baccanti. A baseless idea, a vain dream, a utopia: nothing better than a chimera can describe the flight of two acrobats from the sky to the ground. A breathtaking and poetic show that aims to leave the audience with the certainty that everything can be done and built, starting from a small base, even if it is in the sky.

“Civita is a city suspended in space and time - Loreni commented - in which everything appears perfect, but precarious and melancholic. Everything passes and transforms and here it seems to be consumed more quickly and painfully because it is infinitely beautiful. As Miazaki well represented when inspired by his city in the clouds, here everything is suspended, in space and time. The tightrope walker's crossing is also a suspended and absolute act. It involves a great deal of design and set-up work; but then in a few minutes it runs out and passes. It is the ephemeral. But its value and beauty remain in the memory. A hymn to uselessness then, which creates beauty, the eternal one that does not die and resists, together with Civita".

The idea of returning for a unique crossing to a place that contains the ancient and is projected towards the world began to move in the mind of the tightrope walker Andrea Loreni at the first glance at the entrance to the bridge. Loreni continued the idea together with the deputy mayor Luca Profili, visiting the village and climbing the bell tower of the church of San Donato to discover the roofs.
